When is the best time to visit Morocco?

Morocco offers a great diversity of climates, from the Atlantic coast to the peaks of the Atlas and the desert. The best time to go therefore depends mainly on the regions you want to discover.

Spring, the ideal season

From March to May, temperatures are mild everywhere and the landscapes green, especially in the valleys and the Atlas. It’s the most pleasant time to combine imperial cities, mountains and desert.

Autumn, the other sweet spot

From September to November, the summer heat drops and the light becomes magnificent. An excellent window for Marrakech, Fez and the gates of the Sahara.

Summer, for the coast

In July and August, the interior and the desert become very hot. Head instead for the Atlantic coast: Essaouira, Agadir and Dakhla enjoy a climate tempered by the trade winds.

Winter, mild in the south

From December to February, the north and the Atlas can be cool and snowy, while the south and central cities stay pleasant during the day. Ideal for a sunny city break.

In short

For a first trip combining several regions, aim for spring or autumn. Then adapt your itinerary to the season: the coast in summer, the cities and the desert in the shoulder seasons.
