City guide

Rebuilt after the 1960 earthquake, Agadir has become Morocco’s leading beach destination. A mild year-round climate, a long sheltered beach, and some of North Africa’s best surf spots just minutes away: here’s how to plan a complete stay.
The first days: the city and its bay
Start with Agadir’s beach itself, over 10 km of fine sand lined with a promenade that’s lively from morning to night. Then head up to the Agadir Oufella Kasbah on the hill overlooking the city: the ruins of the old fortress offer the best view over the bay and recall the city’s history before the earthquake. In the evening, Agadir Marina is the place for restaurants and a Mediterranean atmosphere.
Heading to Taghazout and the surf spots
About twenty minutes north, Taghazout has become a world surf hotspot while keeping the authentic feel of a fishing village despite its fame. Whether you surf or not, the relaxed atmosphere and sunsets are worth the trip. A little further on, Paradise Valley offers natural pools nestled among the rocks, ideal for a cool break in nature.
The souk and family activities
Souk El Had, one of the largest covered markets in Morocco, is the place to discover spices, crafts and local produce in the heart of the city. For a family outing, Crocoparc offers a fun immersion among Nile crocodiles, and the Valley of the Birds provides a green pause right in the city centre.
Relaxation and wellness
Agadir is known for its thalassotherapy centres and seafront spas — a local specialty not to be missed if you’re looking to unwind. The golf courses surrounding the city, with views over the Atlantic, round out a stay geared towards relaxation.
How long to stay?
Allow 6 to 7 days to fully enjoy the city, the excursions to Taghazout and Paradise Valley, and the beach rhythm that has made Agadir’s reputation. It’s one of the few Moroccan destinations pleasant all year round, thanks to its ocean-tempered climate.
